Ben's Elephant

A 3 stringer made for my newborn grandnephew, Ben. (His nursery has an elephant theme)Made from scraps of plywood and oak for the most part. Faces for the ears were salvaged from a vintage serving tray. 2 drawer pulls, an antique copper backing plate and a button make up the tailpiece and bridge. The pickup is at the tops of the tusks beneath about a 1/16" thick layer of the oak veneered plywood. Recessed metal beads were used as fret markers. The teal fade was done using spray paint.

  • Wow.  Beautiful. I like the wood grains on the lower 'bout' especially.  I like the 'teal fade'.  It looks like turquoise.

  • Something he'll "never  forget"  i'm sure  ;-)
