Asylum is a 3 string fretless bass, 33.5" scale tuned EAD. Rod piezo in cedar bridge with Corian saddle. Maple neck and fingerboard with Danish oil finish. Converts to an upright by screwing leg made from curtain rod into threaded socket.105, .80 and .65 weedwacker strings rest on Corian saddle which rests on rod piezo routed into cedar cigar spacer bridge.

The strings sound great and hold tuning very well after the initial stretch. Plugged it in tonight to 25W Ampeg bass amp and WOW! It sounds fantastic and I can shake the house with it if wanted, but nice and clean. I'm super happy with how it turned out. Now I need to learn to play it better!
very cool!! How does it sound with the weed-wacker strings? how bout an audio post! \i want to make a bass for my daughter who is a bassest, so I have been looking at an number of different designs and ideas.
