Ariana neck

Well, I decided to fix the heel where it wad cracked by filing it down so that the fretboard will join the guitar at the 12th.fret instead of the 14th. Then I'll glue up some stock to make a new heel out of. I have no idea what kind of wood the neck and heel are, it's Indonesian made, but I'm guessing some kind of Cedar. Something harder around the truss rod

  • Hi Uncle- after Randys' comment I checked Wikipedia, and it looks and sounds like Mahogany alright.There's enough of it in the neck block and tail block to make a new heel out of, and I already have a neck block and tail block made up of Black Cherry- going to use it for the 1949 Ohio license plate you sent me! That stuff's real easy to work compared to Oak
  • Looks difficult.  Good wishes.   I think South America and Asia both have mahogany like woods.

  • Just did some measuring- there's enough of the Mahogany in the neck block and the tail block to reconstruct the heel! I decided to use the Ariana neck to make a 6 stringer out of the Ohio license plate guitar, so I already have a Black Cherry neck block and tail block
