Another Idea

I hate building necks...well thats a lie, I love making anything from scratch, but I get obsessive with the shaping and it takes soooo long. I tried to think of a way to do a neck that was...1. not a square block, needed to to be round and comfortable2. was still fret-able3. easy to attack to a CBSo this is what I came up with. Im sure it's been done before but anyway.one half of these have .75" dowels the rest have 1" dowels. I think the 1" may be more comfortable even with the extra space on the sides of the fretboard.The fretboard is 1.5"

  • Yeah, I'm with you Darwin...I actually started working on something like this last week but didn't get very far. I laid a fingerboard on these two wooden dowels I have and said "you know, that may work." Then I called it a day. Nice illustration by the way.
