ETC_CBG2 "Metropolitan" prototype

A custom, purposely over-built thick-walled poplar box that I 'aerated' with generous drill hole chambers, a top oak slat brace system engineered to work against the string tension, and way overbuilt handmade hardware all around. Hand made blade pickup built for this 3 stringer.

The build is a tank but very well-balanced and quite light considering the ridiculously fat steel nut and heavy tailpiece.

Great vibration all through your body when strummed and sustains for days. Though not loud acoustically,it sounds really unique and special through an amp. Very versatile with picking dynamics alone. Piano-like and warm when clean, the pick up is an absolute monster when driven through a high gain set up.

CBG2__a success! Overbuilt custom box and hardware. Custom 3-string blade pickup. Dig the matching flame-figured laminate on the headstock and pickguard and control plate -- a cheap but choice cigar box liner a friend sent me.

Only slight disappointment was the piezo rod bridge...I made the mistake of filling the empty channel  under the bolt with liquid steel...That killed any hope of vibration or natural sound. So I just pulled it out of the wiring and it's a great bridge design -- I could redo it since it's a floating bridge, but I think this one is a dedicated single-coil build... The blade pickup is my first hand-wound one...came out great. Very unique mid-range, natural and vocal-sounding, great clean, and LOVES LOVES overdrive and distortion.

Neck feels like a real guitar neck -- a little chunky because I glued a fretboard to it, but sculpted the whole thing and the headstock volute to fit your hand ergonomically.

Neck is set neck tight as heck, NASA couldn't have fit it more precisely. Glued and clamped in place and set with screws after...probably didn't need the screws, but thought couldn't hurt for a little support over the life of the instrument.
