Comment by Eric Townsend on August 24, 2011 at 2:22pm: I had this strung with heavy strings for a year...was just fine...But I recently just broke a string and didn't have a replacement gauge -- so for a gag I strung it with an 18 and a 15 on the high strings...AWESOME___ a true banjo-y sound...weird like a dulcimer mated with a banjo or something...and sounds SO sitar-ish or middle eastern with the right playing style and a little chorus and triplet echo... (I just went to 17 and 12 gauge -- the 18 and 15 were SOOOO tight, soudned great, but damn, practically breaking the tuners...now the 45, 17 and 12 are perfect tuned to G

Gonna keep this one strung with high strings for good. (

All my novice goofs and adjustments added up to a magical little box.And I discovered that straight into an amp is the best...COOL NOTE YOU MAY HAVE TRIED: TRY USING A WAH PEDAL cocked to one position to sculpt a very banjo-like tone
