  • well, for my money, there was plenty of time sliding goin' on there.....

nice job Scott...every success on your festies...:)

  • Sorry, guys, for buttin in. Thought jabes was talkin to me (would be a waste of time talkin ta me  re "builds, anyway; ah'll drive the motors, but let others build them lol). ANYTHIN practical, count me out lol. Sorry again, crossed lines", guys, on ma part :)

  • Well, jabes, I did not make mine. When ah personally make one, ma old woodwork teacher and metal work teacher will think that they are in a parralel universe LOL. So ah will keep on buying (finances allowin lol). Good luck re build :)

  • Jabes, there still is no sound file... and probably won't be for some time.  I managed to bend one of the gears on a tuner and want to find an exact replacement.  Also, i want to wind larger coils.  That being said, i haven't been working on anything instrument related for some time now and am not sure when i'll get back into it.  I'm throwing another 3-day music festival this year and my creative efforts have been going towards that recently.  Maybe when it gets warm again and i can get back into my garage (aka my shop) i'll fix this guy up and make some noise with it!

  • ok..yeah that's a nice looking thing, a pal of mine bought a lap steel a while back and has been pestering me to make one,  ...i diddled about on his and it's fun..

  • @jabes  if talkin about MY twin neck lap steel, it is on a video on ma channel. Cheers, ma man :)

  • Thanks, Scott, for thoughts. Yes, I agree, would be better with more "divergence" between two gitars. But at least the two seperate volume controls for each neck let me have some "contrast", re volume, and I could maybe get some ideas re using the "drone" effect that I use in the video.

I did not build it, as I said, so have no idea what the builder had in mind. Thanks again for suggestions on "improving" the gitars, but sounds like it would need someone who knows what they were doing! And that is NOT me lol.

  • so, is there actually a sound file on this this machine,? i've read all about it twice ...

  • Jamie, i checked it out.  It's certainly a beautiful instrument!  However, both necks sounded identical to me.. which seems redundant.  My thoughts would be to either 1) provide 2 outputs, 1 for each neck, so that they can be run through different pedals & amps, or 2) give each neck a distinct sound by placing the pickups differently and offering separate tone controls.  Anyway, very cool & unique build my friend, keep up the good work!

  • Scott, John (Roadkill) was tellin me about yer "build". Did ya see ma video of twin neck lap I picked up (home build). Its on ma page. Cheers ma man. If you and me play together Scott, we will have a four piece! The new Lapsteel Beatles LOL
