  • Love it when u go kicking n screaming into the expensive guitars !!!     nice un there UJ

  • Thanks guys.  I used a drill powered circle cutter to cut out the big sound hole and  a larger circle where beneath the bridge.  I put in a (back to front) brace where I cut though a cross brace for the sound hole.  The big sound hole brass is a  closet rod hanger.

This was a cheap little first act kids guitar.  20 inch scale.  The strings were way too close together.   Going to a 5 string helped that.

For sound on a 10 point scale, I think it went from a 3 to 6.5.  or maybe 7 in open G.  Too bad I am not much of a 5 string player, but it is fun and maybe I will learn a bit.

Bug, why not use a UK plate?

  • I really want to build one of these, is there any cutting away behind the number plate and how did you do the holes things?...  its way cool... looks like an old framus from that head stock?

US Number plates over here go for a whole heap more cash though!

  • I have a free guitar that my grandson had that came unglued, I glued it all back togeather. But now you gave me an idea as well as many others. Really likes the look, very nice.

  • Sweet.

  • Thanks Jon and John.

Huh, maybe I will paint the nut white.  Good idea.  Maybe paint the saddle blue.  Hmm.  May put it aside for a while first.  Other projects are calling.
