  I put a Bass Guitar pickup just under the surface of the plate.If I build another,I may try a piezo pickup so its not so close to the plate thus maybe I'll get a deeper BOOM out of it!!.Good luck,Michael.

  Good morning Joel.It is an Electric Foot Drum.Yes, you do stomp on it and the sound is picked up by a guitar pickup placed just under the surface of the license plate.On the other side of this box you would be able to see the output jack which allows me to run this box through a guitar amp.
