601 bridge detail + spoke nipples

Bridge made from rubber wood and cedar with ebony saddle. Piezos are between the rubber wood and the cedar. Red anodised bicycle spoke nipples to protect the box from the strings (how often do you have a good excuse to say nipples on a site like this).

  • Hmmm...Spoke nipples !

  • Hi Howard and Richard.

Howard. I will try to get some pics sorted out before too long.

Richard. I put on the lowest three from a set of electric 8s, but the lowest string seemed a bit loose so I replaced it with one from a set of 9s. Just a little heavier. I think that makes these .021" .030" and .042". It's tuned to low DAD.

    All the best.

  • Hi Howard and Henry.

    Thanks for the comments.

Howard. The concave ends of the bridge were cut with a milling cutter. The convex bits were done with a belt sander and then filed. Then the whole thing was papered and finished with sanding sealer and oil.

    All the best.
