First CBG with the 4-corners of the lid cut off for sound holes. I was going for the octagonal soundboard look, but the box wasn't exactly square and from this angle, it doesn't really show. It has a fair amount of sustain, which is nice.

The design obviously will need to be refined. I have no idea exactly how large or small the sound holes should be. I did take what I felt was the extreme of going for an almost equilateral octagonal design. My next one will likely have sound holes (corners) about half the size of this one. Before I build the new box, I'll have to test the current one with steel strings and metal frets. The neck design with nylon tie-wrap frets mutes the sound significantly, so what I'm showing is not a good test of what the box design can do. It was, however, something I could throw together quickly. Again, the idea came from another CBN member: "Hip Bone Bellaire" in this thread. It's neat how we can exchange ideas and innovate on CBN!
When I hold this CBG like a guitar and play it, I don't hear a lot of sound, but if I play it while facing the front side, it projects a lot more sound in that direction (out to the audience).

Very innovative, including the cable tie frets. It is cool to be original. Glad it sounds good for you.
I think your sound holes are to extream to be really loud. but I do like your idea.
