It’s gotta lay directly on or touch the box top to get the resonance your looking for, otherwise all the vibration will transfer to the neck?

Box curves are reinforced with glue blocks - probably heavier than needed. The floating bridge (bolt) is about 1/3 of the way up the box, which I hoped would improve the resonance (it doesn't seem to, though...). 

So far, with the spare strings available, I've tried  (1) low D - Low A - medium D; (2) low E - medium B - high E; (3) low G - high D - high G. Not too crazy about any of those tones, so will revert to low G - medium D - medium G, as with my CBG #1.
