volvolator

my second build. used a smoked salmon box, backed up the box with chicken wire. (gotts have a little bling). The resonator is a volvo hubcap from a"66 122 amazon. Fell apart twice from string pressure. Last time it was leaning against a wall made a sound like a bugs bunny cartoon and fell to pieces on the ground.Present incarnation has held for 4 years. Originally had an antler bridge, but really came alive when I swapped it for a maple one. I use this one on stage a lot.

  • i glued it on, but the neck had a heel, i made a female mate on a maple 1X2. I glued/laminated several would blocks and dremelled the blocks to receive the heel. the lottsa glue. Still pulled its self apart 2 times. now its held for 3 years. The neck is from a guitar I picked up at a garage sale, body was rotted from moisture. It originally a parlor guitar from the late 30s. I could not bear to let the whole thing go. worked out just fine. its my favorite
