yeah the rod piezo works it`s best with pressure on it, like a saddle pushing against the rod. Maybe if you would of used the disc below the rod...but then you might incounter unwanted noise from the rod against the disc, which would work better if there was some wood or other thin material between the two pickups. I know with my all bone piezo disc bridges the sound is just as good as the rod...but they are really hard to make. Thats why i do mostly rod piezo bridges...lol.
