2 Hour Scrappy 2 String

This was made for an audience guy at open mike nights. He talks about buying a cbg from me ~ but this is usually after he's had a couple or more beers ~ and I am guessing low $ is a good thing.Everything about it was spare parts and scraps. I had a good time building it. It's a bit quiet, but sounds better than okay and plays pretty good for fretless. Acoustic - not electric. $20.00 and he has a cbg.Oh, the neck is a soft cedar srap with a coat of tung oil. The birds were made from cedar too. Pretty wood and seems strong enough. But too soft. The bird friends are nuthatches on the left and a chickadee on the right.

  • I dig it!  I'm with you on the cedar neck though.  I used one on my first build with a tung oil finish.  Pretty easy to work with, but way too soft.

  • Thanks Mike.  Hey, have you heard from Botankus?

  • Good looking build! I l like the paint scheme - looks old and used. Those birds look real as well.

  • Roger, I would have preferred to use the 5th and 4th string and tune G~D.  But this truly was a build with scraps thing.

  • Thanks guys.  I made the birds ~ more cut and sanded than truly carved - glued the wings on.

Strings are the 6th and 5th from a 6 string set (the two largest) tuning is D G.

  • you'll have a freind for life...;)

  • I'm with you on that one john, a soft nuthatch can be a troublesome thing.

  • What strings are you using on this. I want to build one.
