That tuning interested me and I cranked a GDG up to where you said. Pretty taut, but it sounded good and surprised me by how well I could sing some songs I normally do in GDG or AEA. Seems like a real good option for me too and I have plenty of gits to restring and go that route or similar. I play more straight than cross harp and might have to consider a Bb harp. Thanks.
Also, regarding the blue grassers. I should give some of them another chance. The only one that comes to jams I go to is not a bad guy, but he's a music snob. He's picked up my gits and briefly messed and said something akin to 'not much volume.'
Well, shit. Another blue grass encounter was at a jam that is strongly old time country and a little blue grass. I plugged in a GDg and played 'The Wreck of The Old 97' in a bluesy boogie beat style. I think I did pretty well, but those couple bluegrassers were not digging it.
There are quite a few old country and blue grassers in my region who think that if Lefty did it in E then you damn well ought to do it in E too. I try not to be outright rude, but screw em and the pony they rode in on.
Whew. I just did an editorial. Way off track. Great photo up there and I took it in a whole new direction. Thanks on the tuning idea/

1-5-1- Bb-F-Bb works for my voice and allows me to use my Eb harp
How were they tuned that the banjo folks were digging them?
Sell em where ya can ; } I sold 7 over a 3 day weekend Bluegrass banjo pickers were tearing em up.
