Re Worked License Plate Git

This is an old build. It was a 4 string tuned GDGB - Slowpaw Steve style. It was pretty good, but I just play better with a 3. Man, did it come out good on the rebuild. The 'before' neck was pretty flat. I router rounded it. I Feels great. It had a piezeo which sounded good unless cranked loud. With some advice and help from the Phrygian Kid, (Thanks!) I put a spare and cheap mag pup under the plate. I can not say it sounds better, but it will CRANK up the volume now.I reworked the action and got it good. The old leather strap is from JP Swenson. I 'blacked' it and it looks and feels just right.Could not get a photo worth posting, but the little doo-dad hanging from the peg head is a cool old 'Whitbread Bitters' medallion I got from Jabes. (Thanks). This thing feels and plays great. Sound is kind of reso like and the license plate sometimes makes a rattle or buzz. It sounds great on the right song. - This is why we seem to need half a dozen or so good players.Oh, bought the old rocker for $20.00. Sits nice. Needs some work.

  • Thanks guys.  J.P. blackening the leather was a complexicated and lengthy, 13 step process.   Here we go:  1. Wipe strap with black shoe polish.  13.  Wipe off the excess after it dries.  Oh, the pickup used like this is kind of like a piezo.  Anywhere under the plate should work.  Mine is along side the neck-thru.  Phrygian can explain it.

  • That is a good lookin' strap Unc!  ;-]]   How id you blacken it?

So does the pickup cross under the strings or did you just mount it along side the stick through neck?

Another sweet git.  Looks great on that old rocker too.

  • Heh. Well if u can't say it, I'll step up from the other side of the globe and do it.
    IT SOUNDS BETTER. :D
