Cheap ass builds with scrap pine necks and a piece of lathe or yard stick for the fret boards. Lathe glued up for through the neck heels.The glued up fret board and heel add a lot of strength and will almost always prevent bowing.

Ed is tuned DGBD or DGBE and plays and sounds pretty good. He has a side mounted equalizer hooked to a rod piezo beneath the bridge. Ed has matching tuners.
Sweet Muriel is tuned DGB or CGC. She has a disc piezo. She also has a buzz when played acoustic. I have not yet figured out where the buzz is coming from.
