  • Ha ha farmer, yes, well I wish they were not so expensive however for the length being around 54" you have to go with 3/4 size upright bass strings. I put on the best for less by going with the least expensive highest rated string using a flexible core. I did a lot of research and comparison in design. Still needs a little tweaking here and there. Now that I've done all the ground work, I'll get a set of plans with a material list up for those interested.

  • Why are strings expensive? I guess double D strings are special?

  • Thanks Farmer Ted! Yes, the name of the band was Primus and Les Claypool played this and made it popular. Very inexpensive to build, very expensive strings.
