  • Hi Brian. First of all, I LOVE the sound. One of these days I'll try and record him.

Here are a few pics of the inside:

I extended the neck to the tail end. The hinge tailpiece is screwed directly into the end of the neck. This keeps almost all the tension in the neck.

When I play it open like this I get all sorts of wonderful buzz.

I thinned down the neck by 1/4" where it enters the box. My hope was that it might allow the box to resonate more freely.

    I think it worked well.

I apologize for the workmanship, but it works. I roughed in the large end piece then added shims below and in front of the neck. The small support piece in the bottom left is underneath the bridge.

  • I am about to embark on a very similar project. I have several of these type tins... with Star Wars, Avengers, Spiderman, etc... I have just been itching to make a lunchbox guitars out of them, but have yet to see anyone make one like you did (let along of lunch boxes like these).

Any chance of seeing the insides? How does he sound? Looks to be a great job, especially for your first!

  • Destined to become a classic!
