  • Gary, I miss him more and more.  126 should send me this guitar in his memory.

  • BTW 2DG, I really like the distressed fret markings!  Great idea!

  • Man I miss Ol' Weevil....  Howzabout you Uncle?

  • Nice!

  • Nice and cool story to go with it!

  • I saw this one roll by on the main page and loved it.   Still do.   I recognized it and know the story.   This plate was on Joe Tom Wilkerson's 54 Chevy when he wrecked it in 68' trying to take a curve marked 45 mph 60.   He would have done it too, but one of the front baldies blew out.     Joe Tom was 17 at the time and made this git after the wreck.

Joe Tom was a white boy - still is so far as I know!   He patterned this git off an old black street player's cigar box guitar - a guy known locally around Sunflower, Miss. as Weevil.   Ol' Weevil taught Joe Tom some blues and Joe played the crap out of the LPG until he hocked it at a Memphis pawn shop in 72'.

I lost track of the story then.   How did you come to get it?
