  • lol, thanks John and Sharecropper..."backwards is the new forwards" I like it!!
  • But the tone! the tone is better if tuners are on backwards

  •  Hi , bemuzic ! When the machine heads are on the "wrong" way the tension put on by the strings pulls the gearing apart from each other , rather than into each other, and you can strip a gear while tuneing . Worth the time to correct before doing damage to your machine head .  Hope that makes sense !     Love your tunes !!!
  • The only thing that will happen if you put them on "backwards", someone will comment every time you post a picture: OMG! the tuner is on backwards.

In order to counter this I suggest saying "I have done an experiment, where I  have purposely put the tuner on backwards to see how it affects the tone. After doing this I have concluded, the tone is better with the tuner on backwards."

When you use the magic phrase " the tone is better this way" people will accecpt that it is true, backwards becomes the new forward and, all is well with the world.

  • ha...what actually happens if they're on the wrong way???
  • Turns out I've always put my machine heads on the wrong way round too, on every single build. Damn!

  • have just looked at my other CBG's and I see what you mean...all the one's made by people who know what they're doing have the cog bit at the bottom...will remember that for the future, thanks!!
  • thanks for the advice re the tuner...do you mean the tuners's the wrong way round? or the way I've wound the string? No vid yet...soooon : -) Will check out your pics
