Hi Paul, thanks for the friends request, I see you are a fellow Brit, I'm up in Geordieland with the rest of the chosen ones!

I have been trying to learn some stuff off the Red Dog Music DVD but it's not much cop, the guy just say's things like "try this Blues Scale excercise it's real easy" and then plays something but does nothing to break it down or explain exactly what he's doing!.

I am hoping Keni Lee's video is a bit more structured cos this one's a waste of money, it certainly seems to be helping you along.

Anyway keep up the good work, All the best Steve AKA Geordiebluesman.

P.S. I sing and play Blues Harmonica, you can check me out on You Tube just search for Geordiebluesman, Enjoy!

Thanks for your friendship Paul, a get-together would be good perhaps we could sort out a midlander evening or day at some point in the near future. Although I have been building for just over a year, it's only in the last couple of weeks that I have seriously started to attempt to learn to play.

  • smojo

Thanx for the friend request Paul...Partyon Sir...Addicting stuff these geetars...

  • Keni Lee Burgess

Thank you Paul. Using Open tunings, a 513 (tones from the major scale) triad (basic 3 note chord) can be used to make moveable chords. On 3 strings CBG I use ADF# Tuning. This is 513 in key of D. On 4 string I use DGBD (Open G Tuning). This is 5135 in the key of G. On a 5 string banjo the triad is here gDGBD / 15135. On a 6 string the tuning in Open D is DADF#AD / 151351 and Open G DGDGBD 515135. Basically, if you can understand the string relationships your knowledge is simply transfered onto another instrument. Enjoy, Keni Lee

  • Keni Lee Burgess

Fortunately, through this modern technology it is possible to work together to a point. I have Skype but I haven't really got around to making lessons via this venue fully up and running. I also plan to begin a series of lessons about theory and practice. This will cover a clear apporach that I feel will make playing any string instrument regardless of number of strings or tuning more understandable. Like anything in life, you really need a good mental picture before you try to physically do something. Enjoy your practice, Keni Lee

  • Keni Lee Burgess

Thank you Paul for joining my group. Feel free to add to the discussions or ask questions. I hope your practice is improving nicely. Enjoy.

    Hello Paul from Worcester,

Thanks for friending me...I'm back safe in the high grounds of the Black Country Delta now, I'll be in Upton again for the Blues at the weekend...rain or shine so I if your going I'll see you there?..keep your eye on that Mississippi Severn...with the new flood barriers in place it won't affect the town so the festival is safe, but they have had to move the camping 2 fields up from the usual site.
