They are instruments that pretty much anyone can build and enjoy with very little expense and they can produce very unique sounds. I'm amazed at the vast range of creativity in the builds I have seen so far and they look like they will be great fun to play once I learn how.

    Mr. Lutz...

You were suggested by another member as a source of info about wood hollow body lap steels.

What can you tell me? Are they worth the effort? I'm working on build #3, a 29.5 inch scale, 3 octive, 40" OAL Baritone lap steel. I've been thinking about a wood/metal or hollow body hybrid version of the Fouke baritone.

Also, I see "A" shape headstocks on yours. Do you have a dimensioned drawing? I'm going nuts trying to make them by the seat of my pants, and both have been a struggle. Maybe a source for an 'A' style route template?

    Thanks for your time.

    BTW, I don't play.....LOL....

    Thanks.

We think alike on some of the basics... i.e. "Keep It Simple, Stupid."

I finally found an "A" drawing. Just the outline, but with people's info, I can plot the peg holes easy enough. It was getting the  angles to match that was throwing me.
