    Hey Richard,

If these sound as good as they look, all I can say is WOW!

Hope you can provide some tasty sound bites sometime soon. Look forward to hearing them.

Hi Randy, PLEASE go ahead. I took the design from regular dulcimers, and applied it to my mandolins. I've made tenor guitars, and some mandolas the same way. I like it because of the mellowness and the way the tuning stays. Please do it. Anyone is welcome to copy anything I make. Please post it. Peace, Richard

Thanks for the comment about the fiddle!

Nice instruments Richard. I'm curious what tunings/strings you are using.
    Thanks,

    Wade

Thanks, Richard. I wish I could find boxes that large also. I have been experimenting with discarded drawers and adding soundboards of thin plywood to make a bass and other instruments. I'll post these when they are further along.

    Hello,
I have started a CBN group entitled, "How to Play CBG" It is my hope and intention to encourage the "Wealth of Talent" here on the Nation to share their knowledge and skill to further the CBG movement. Please consider contributing an instructional "video" link to this group. If you are a viewer seeking instruction, please feel free to write. If you have any suggestions or know other players who you think may want to post instructional "video" links, please contact me. Thank you for your interest and support, Keni Lee
  • Keni Lee Burgess

LOL. Well, there is only one King here and that is definately Mr. Speal. My humble quest is to encourage other players to share their knowledge and skill in playing. There is truckloads of building information here, but videos containing instruction are at an all time low. Will you be able to post?
  • Roger Martin

    hey Rich,
Sorry I took so long to get back, I just found the request a few ago.
I havent been in much the last couple of weeks because I cant get caught up on my builds to keep enough inventory in the shop. .I like your style on your builds , way cool!
  • Keni Lee Burgess

Thank you for your comment and encouragement. Enjoy.
  • Travis Gaines

Richard, I appreciate the offer. Did you want to sell the dulcimer? Please let me know. Thanks,
    Travis
  • Richard Sanabia

I thought it might make things easier if you were to get to finish one. I would give it to you, and you could finish it. It is all cherry wood. If you need some tuners and strings, I can supply them, $25.00 for the "kit", including shipping. For a child I would make it a two string, (A,D). a melody string, and a drone. If you wanted to make one yourself completely, a fret board only makes life a bit easier until you get to the point where everything is clearer. Fret boards can be tough to make if you haven't made one before. Just laying one out can be hard if you have never done it before. If you have some woodworking experience, then I can assist you by sending you a set of actual size plans for a full size dulcimer. Just follow the plans and a dulcimer will appear. I can help in any way to assist you. When i started there wasn't any info around. I learned the hard way and with many mistakes...
  • Travis Gaines

Wow! that is a sweet offer! Thanks so much. I do have some experience and have built one cbg guitar thus far. Just fill me in on the details. I can't believe how nice people are around here.

    Travis
  • Richard Sanabia

Would you want the little dulcimer? I will add some other stuff to assist you.
  • Travis Gaines

    sure I would love it.
  • Richard Sanabia

OK. Do you use Paypal? Rich
  • Travis Gaines

Hey, sorry it took me a long time to get back. I would love the dulcimer. I had to rediscover my paypal account and try and get it sorted out. Thanks again.

Richard, you are welcome. I need to get back riding my trike, but the weather hadn't been suitable. I love riding it. The only bad thing about riding it is if you come across a snake, you are eye to eye with it. I have done that before and it scared the ------out of me. LOL
  • rodney fruits

    Thanks for the comment Richard.

Hello Richard, building my first Dulcimer or Blucimer. Is 17" or 19" really the recommended scale lenght depending on box?

     Nut to bridge?

    Thanks
