    Hi David.

No. It's not me singing. It is Henry Phillips and it was done on the Bob and Tom show, as was the second song by Brian Haner.

Glad you liked them. All the best.

    John

thanksdave thats a fun guitar to play with distortion

  • Uncle John

Hi David,  I am glad to have you for a nation friend.

  • Joker

David, actually Rev Nix did the Internet radio thing. I have hosted the cigar box guitar podcast for around the past 4 years or so. Yes there is alot of talent on here, the only problem is its like pulling teeth to get folks to contribute songs. Seems like it would be easy, but it's not. I can usually get enough together to do a new episode about every few months. The other issue is finding a hosting site that isn't going to crash or delete your content. I have been through 4 sites now. The last being mevio.com. Who just deleted my show this past month. Now it's mostly because they were free hosting. If you pay for hosting it can be a little more guaranteed that it will be archived. I did pay for hosting for a year with podbean.com and thier server crashed, deleting everything. Sorry to sound so negative, but it's alot of work and gets frustrating. The last roadblock is getting listeners, the theory of "build it and they will come" isn't true. It takes alot of networking, sending out emails on various social networks and such. And you still may only get a few downloads and listens. If you are able, have the money and time, it could be successful I think. I am considering branching out from it just being a cigar box guitar based show and into all other music genres and things.
  • Joker

Hey sorry for the negative rant, apparantly the cbg gods were listening though.  All my episodes reappeared on mevio.  You can check them out here in the group page http://www.cigarboxnation.com/group/jokerscbgpodcast

    All the best.

to build pickups, I keep little powerful magnets found in little games for kids...

    like "geomag"...

  • Phill Hill Charlie

...look at the little magnet added here under this little pickups... you can change it, choose other one, or put one more... happy if it could be useful

Hey Davey - i'm from Chapeltown just on the border with Barnsley but i started life in Attercliffe moved from there when i was 7 - in 1977 the queens silver Jubilee - it was her Diamond Jubilee today - not as though i'm any sort of royalist like !

it's a small world aint it mate :)

my mate Bluesbeaten Redshaw drove a 1953 Massey Tractor from York to switzerland the other year he moved there with his mum and dad and needed to get the tractor over there so he drove it playing some gigs along the way how cool is that maybe you have seen/heard some of his music ? heres a link if you aint heard of him http://www.bluesbeatenredshaw.com/

thanks for checking my tunes out mate but i don't really consider myself much of a player sometimes i can put a tune down but not very often lol 1 - i mainly stick to building !

good to have you onboard mate

    juju :)

  • Dave Lynas

Hey South Paw, thanks for the great and long note about your copy machine. Keep me in mind if you make a plan for sale. My current method is simple, but it works. I just lay my model neck alongside my new neck and scribe from one to the other with a t square and pencil. I just file my lines with a knife file. They don't show up well in use. I'm going to try using an airbrush to highlight each fret mark. I used to do airbrush illustration, so this will be a simple thing for me. Good luck with your marvelous tool. How's that double banjo, guitar monster coming? ... Dave

  • Dave Lynas

Hey Paw, I've been in my garden all day too. Lots of weeding and watering. We suck water from a lake and pump it half way up the hill, then move the pump to the tubs filled and pump the rest of the way. Lots of bucket work too. I cut out parts for a diddley bow today too at the summer shop (at the lake gardens). Tomorrow I'll glue her up. No laws here about noise. Jet skis all over the lake, chain saws, my band saw, windy. Nice day! ... Dave

  • Dave Lynas

Baby back ribs, Might as well use the band saw... Chain saw for roughing out the neck... I've got my box glued up and neck shaped for #20. I'll post some in process photos. And the garden is doing good. Everything is up!

  • Kenneth Wilson Hale

Thanks for your great comments. I can tell you that I'm doing nothing

special, Just approaching  the playing with the same style as straight

guitar- fingerstyle with Travis picking, and sliding bass comping. Chet Atkins

was my hero. I play everything including Rock with fingerstyle.
