Jup nasty when it happens,heat does funny things even to stuff that suposed to whitstand it ! we had  a problem whit the stack cones once they started melting at the same temperature as the glaze, it did give some nice surprises thow! Good luck on the next burn !! Greeeeeettsszz A.D.

Its a Dogfoodbowl dave ! the cover is a drain roster that i did some work on its all rust free so if you work it gently it staye's nice ,i flatten the rim, and cut away two halfs from the bottom, trim down the ears ,on the size of the dogbowl made the holes ,and insurted a threadend (copper) bridge, heat it bend in in a u shape and fit to the bottom of the Dogbowl, i like a cover because of playing techniek, i think if you use a open cone, your damping all the time,and looze thye ringing sound of the Cone,if you have a bridge over, you can use damping or not !! thanks for asking and good luck on the project at present !! I would be happy to do that. Though my own work is pretty primitive. I build with hand tools only. I will make one soon and if it comes out sounding good I will send it to you. Give me a couple weeks to clear the ukulele I am building now and let me see what I can come up with.

I was referring to the two string fiddles posted in your pictures. One has a green bridge and both look really cool and old timey!!

D is usual for me to play in. I tend to make the notes from a dulcimer on my necks as it makes it easier to play and all my favorite songs I learned first on a dulcimer.

So I am wondering if you would mind if I put frets on the one I build for you? I want to fret it dulcimer style so you can play the drone mote as well. Is that something you are interested in? please let me know.

Hi Dave !well then just trick her!! use a suitcase! all you need is a bassdrum pedal and your of and i dont have a full drum allso started whit the suitcase as well now use a kiddy drum cheap and verry small ,but when you stuff it whit foam and tape a wooden disc to the skin you get a good bass sound, and ones you get a pedal, you can try out everything even the wall of the sauna! just so you know !! greeettsszz A.D.

Hi a dave ! Yep its a synt that sounds like a Bass Cello! its one of those free samples you can try out on the internet, and i recorded it and mixed it over my rezzo tack, it does have some tone qualety like your small box cello does it not ? greeeeeettssszzz A.D.
