howdy Aaron, how yall are? i just stopped by to try to answer your question about gluing the neck to the box.the glue i use is regular carpenters glue by elmers but i have used other types and tightbond is also a great one to use.the pic you commented on that i took was a beginning stage.to help with string tension one thing to do is add a block inside the box that glues to the box and part of the neck also. the block should be wider than the width of the neck by just a little(say if your neck is 2 inch wide)make the block 3.5 or 4 inch wide.then on the one in the pic i would add 2 screws(an upper and lower screw) through the block into the neck for extra strength.since the time of this pic i have found a few other ways to add strength to the neck to box attachment.i sometimes use a banjo bolt attachment or a lag bolt attachment.i once talke to jim mitchell about his method and he has a great method to secure the neck to the box.he has a kind of anchor bolt set up too that looks to me to be the strongest neck to box set up i have seen.thanks for your interest.

howdy Aaron, about the tri-cone guitar,it was not that difficult to make and it has a nice resonator sound,if you would like to hear it you can find a video sound check of it on my page here.just go to the bottom of my page and i have videos there of many of the builds i make and the title of the video most always matches the title of the photo.i am not really a player but i try to offer a sound check in video form of a lot of builds i make so folks can hear what they also see. to me the resonators seem to be the way to get that certain sound with the slide that you can not really get from a wood box so i have built lots of resonators in many different ways.i built the tri-cone to test my pattern making skills on making the main coverplate.its almost identical to a full size tri-con resonator metal coverplate in looks but i made it smaller in size to match the size guitar i used it on.its really cool to get the resonator sound from a cigar box.
