thanks fer putting the nobody resonator build video in the 3 string group bestillroy i appreciate that it was good timing and good measure on your part. thanks again sir.
well if ya need a suggestion you have ta send the pup to me to investigate the possibilities haaaaaaaaaa, just kidding. for a wound pickup i like them closer to the bridge than the neck but you get lots of warmth closer to the neck, its just that to me you can get more growl and sustain closer to the bridge. so if i,m putting one in a cigar box guitar that i would play, i think i would have it just a little bit off center with it closer to the bridge than the neck. just remember---neck warmer---bridge growl sustainer---middle=somewhere in-between.
hi thanks for your interest.I had not thought about selling the banjo but let me think on.It does play it is quiet qnd surprisingly soft toned. It also has a very cheap piezo pup glued under the soundtin when that is plugged in it changes to a metallic banshee - all good fun.Hoping to record a sound bite soon and will post.

Hey beStillroy, a while back you were tryin' to get me to put a vid together. Well I think I found the song to cover, just gotta work on some composition for it. Check it, I think you'll like it.
I got some from him too, I looked at 'em for a while, my kid picked one and that's where i'm at right now. Should have the lacquering done tonight. Makin' noise tomorrow.
LOVE your stuff Man!
But, is it "Be still, Roy"? (as in a command to a noisy "Roy")
-or-
is it "Best Illroy"? (to distinguish from some lesser "illroys")
howdy bro you like the zodiac banjo yes? it did come out kinda cool looking,,,i still have to make a back for it,might be hard to part with but only cause a friend sent the banjo hoop and neck to me,used the neck a long time ago but tried to use the hoop several times before and it just didnt work out till now,3rd time is a charm they say.any how maybe i can hunt up another hoop and build one for ya in the future,i still havent finished the cigar box guitar 4 stringer yet for ya but its close to being finished now. take care man i will holler at ya when the 4 stringer is finished---i think the only thing left to do is put frets in the fingerboard.
thanks to responding to my blogs ,im new to all this ,thanks for the biscuit/cooky tin info i will try it soon . ps have you seen ben over the big pond on his home turf ?
Thanks! It was a fun gig.
I sent Gary Martin one of your soup can clips which inspired his Tabacco tin Harp mic.
He has sent me samples of his Mango Can Mic. His first one.
Sounded sweet!
love the new pics......after eating too much all day, I may have to write a song about the slice that put me over the edge, is it candy or is it pie? ........cinderella will be sweeping chores aside, ..not a blessed thing will get accomplished, but a fine lifestyle;-),,,LOL
that's smart (keep the beard!)....!!!I'm not sure where you are in the world, but cold country? ....many young men are sporting beards, but the price of razor blades might have something to do with that.....YIKES! .. the idea captures perfectly the tone and the metal to metal transfer of resonance, achieved,,,!! any part of a vintage trailer suits me very well....one day I'll have another.... an early childhood imprint, my grandfolks, were trailerites,,,my folks had afew, my first trailer excursion taken at the age of 1...me, I love em as well, they are like dollhouses on wheels..........
One more thing.... have you seen this build? The piezo is isolated at the back and insulated with a foam insert. Would that have an effect on feedback?
Howdy Roy, Thanks for your recent kind comments. Trying to post 'Turn Your GIve A Shitter Way Down Low' on the Romeos. Can not make it work. I get the embed file, copy it and then try to paste it in the Romeos comments and no go.... Suggestions, sir?
Hi - Thanks for your comment on my latest vid. You asked how I did the recording >> I am putting my cbg through a Line6 Pod XT pro and then into a Yamaha 4416 mixer / hdd recorder along with the microphone and drum track sequenced in Ableton live. But I don't record to the 4416. I take an output from the mixer back into Ableton on my laptop and record the mixdown their. This allows me to easily make multiple recordings and pick the one I like best. Thanks for asking...
