Any news for the St. Louis festival for 2014? I have to plan a couple months out to arrange vacation time, but would like to come this year.
Howdy MrOmen5, where abouts in Missouri is Desoto? North/South? I'm north of you up in Nebraska but get down to Missouri on occasion. We come down to Kansas City to the KC Cigar Box Fest in the fall. Great time.
Good to have you here!
hey to all midwesterners, just joining the forum, been building and lurking around the nation for a while but it was finally time to make it official. so hello from desoto mo!
Hey Friends,
I'm glad to sign up and post to this group. I live in in rural Spicer, Mn. sorta in the middle of Minnesota. So far I've made 3 cbgittys and one amp. I'm a true fan of the awesome builders that I find here, and I hope to make some new friends. Shout out to Mark Furillo!
St. Louis CBG Festival is on the books. It will be held June 8th, 2013. It is being hosted by HWY 61 Roadhouse and Kitchen in Webster Groves, MO 63119. This is a St. Louis suburb. All CBG fans, their families and friends are welcome. There will be booths for rent if you want to sell your instruments. An outdoor stage will be set up with open mic time for those who are interested.
If you would like to know more or have any questions, leave a message here on the nation For Smilindog1 or Gary Herget and we will help you with whatever you need to know. Pass the word and make this a great festival.
If you can find an independent local lumber store there is a much better chance that they will have something besides poplar, oak and pine.
There's a local store here that has an old fashioned shed out back with maple and even walnut. It's not cheap but it is there and the guys that work there can be helpful in finding nice looking pieces that aren't big enough to make a kitchen cabinet or such.
I am experimenting with the 1/2" oak for the fretboard on one right now. Hoping to get more elevation off the box lid so I can get more creative with the bridges I am making. That way I can take a little more off the neck material than normal too. Actually used poplar on the neck which made it easy to shave it down. I still gotta get over to rockler too.
