Blues Under A Clear Sky
As I stammered
into position
with feet over the bed
whats the use of praying
My soul's nothing to say
Too worn out to listen
to reason today
How can I have the blues
Under a clear sky
Sun shinning hot
While I'm so cold inside
Everything I ever love
has been walked out the door
Everybody's wearing black
She ain't coming back no more
I've let the years go by
with no reason to cry
living in a ghost town
till the day I die
So How can I have the blues
Under a clear sky
With the Sun shinning hot
While I'm so cold inside
Wow, SmilingDog, that is some good and powerful stuff. Good poem. I don't hear the song for it right now. It stands tall on its own.
Kind of like yours too, Merle. I don't even text!

Nice! I'll try to do one of these and post a video
Poison Pillow
I keep Walking in these shoes
Where I’m headin I can’t tell
It’s been so long sense I felt good
Do you feel pain as well
I lost what is left of me
It’s a hole you cannot fill
A bottle full of liquor
And a bottle full of pills
I met a lover long ago
What her name is
I can’t guess
She was poison for my pillow
To this day I cannot rest
So I keep Walking
Walking in these shoes
Where I’m headin
Can only mean the blues
Some say that there’s a heaven
Some say that there’s a hell
To tell the truth my friend
My brain so cloudy
I can’t tell
And I keep walking
Walking in these shoes
I keep walking
Till I no longer have the blues
My pants are torn
My feet are worn
These rotten teeth
Still smile
My eyes are clouded
The skin is padded
Like an ancient
Crocodile
Thoughts fade upon memory
Of a face
I can not see
I’m walking
Wondering who I used to be
So I keep walking
I keep walking in these shoes
I keep walking
Till I no longer have the blues
Here's a fun blues song that I wrote. It can be done so many different ways.
Without the music, you'll just have to hear it in your head and go for it.
I'm interested to hear others do their version of my lyrics. I usually write with a tune in my head so that's kinda cheating but I think this can be done. I'm sharing them with all of you. FYI I hold the copy rights to all my songs. Just please enjoy them and I hope you like them.
I Must Have Something To Do
The way it begins
In the early morning
I'd like to sleep in
It's the same old story
Had to rock myself
To the edge of the bed
Head is cloudy
Might as well be dead
I stumble in search
Of something to wear
I gaze in the mirror
For a moment I stare
Through the fog and the haze
I must have something to do
My cup of coffee
Taste like shoes
I thank the Lord
Baby I got you
A honey do list
Sits on the table
I once knew a gal once
Her name was Mabel
Now come to think of it
I must have something to do
OK: Here's a song I wrote up just minutes ago to share with everyone. As lyrics go, they are subjective to your own interpretation and so please take the liberty to play with these lines and adjust accordingly. What I'd like to see is anybody meaning everybody, do their rendition of the song. I record mine and post it. It would be interesting to hear other players mess around with this.
Frank, check out my videos. Most are 3 string. I have 2 tutorials on Amazing Grace and one on a finger style version of One Black rat.
Would like to fret my 3-string. Cannot find free video or instructions on finger picking and/or using freets. Usually tuned EBE but videos, tabs, instructions for any tuning would be appreciated!
