thought about how i was using modern mics and effects, mainly distortion and reverb, to record with and it seemed the next step to me was hand built microphones to record with -

a few of my first mic builds

#3 / coffee can mic with suspension mount - using a 2 x 3 1/2 inch speaker as the "mic"#2 / bud light "tall boy"" beer can mic with standard mount - using a 20mm piezo as the "mic"#1 / milwaukee's best beer can mic with standard mount - using a 1 1/4 inch headphone speaker as the "mic"videos & or sound samples are on my page if you wanna check out how they sound

Hey 407Bug, Yeah, I wish I could find my old Boy Scout Mouth Harp I had as a kid.

My buddy doing the talking kind of embellished on calling it a condenser.  It's actually a dynamic mic core from a mic similar to the one I posted a pic of below.  I just wired it to an 8th inch jack and glued it inside.  

I am planning another one like it soon, but out of a tall-boy Arnold Palmer can.  Thanks for the comment.

Sounds sweet how did you do the condenser bit?
Recon a harp would sound great on that.

Just picked up this uni-directional beauty at a kids consignment for $2.50.  I can't wait to get the guts into a cooler, more respectable form (aka a beer, or Monster drink can). :-)

Wanting to do a  video of my first two mics I just finished this last week.. Will see if I have time this weekend, totally stoked!
