Hi all! I build harp mics for fun and, occasionally, to do a bit of bartering/trading with folks for other gear. Some time ago, I wrote an instructable on how to make a fully DIY bullet mic. Check it…Continue

Yeah dremel and needle files
Absolutely superb as usual Randy! Really want to have a go at something like that. Do you mainly use a dremel for these?
Here's a simple can mic that I knocked out a few days ago paired up with one of my SM57's.
Simple soup can with a small peizo disk glued to the bottom. Speaker grill on the front held on with broken guitar strings (something I have TONS of!), input jack and you're good to go. I used pipe clamps to attach it to a spare mic clip that I had and I was happy to see that both mics fit just fine.
It sounds about what it looks like. I had some bad feedback at first but I layer some cut up inner tube to the back/bottom on the can on the outside and held that on with a chew tobacco lid and a piece of rubber also cut from the inner tube.
I'll try to get a video up sometime this weekend.
I like your beer can mikes. Any ideas about what kind of microphone stands works for beer can microphones. I want to keep as close to vintage as possible. Thanks They are awesome. Need something to hold them while I play my CBG's.
Like your pics Randy... awesome work!
I just tried a cheap megaphone...and it's fun!
Does a CB mic work as a microphone then if you wire it to a phono?
has anyone made a mic from a cb piece?
