What about a Texas Cigar Box Festival, or at the very least one night or day thing somewhere to where musicians, builders, and fans from this area can get together?
I was thinking maybe up in the DFW area, late summer?
Well? What happened?
In nearby Athens, TX there is a Fiddler's Reunion festival on Friday night with over $2000 in prize money. It is in it's 81st year and is a really big event. Would be neat to have something on the Saturday while everyone is in town for the annual jam day.
Great Idea , just let us know when and where, will be there!
Well, sorry for the absence, it's been a crazy year. I've got a couple of spots in mind for this and have approached them about doing something like this. I'm shooting for March or April of this year. If you're interested hit me up.
Suppose it's not really a festival, rather a concert showcasing cigar box guitars.
There should an event of this type held at a Deep Ellum venue because of the blues history in Dallas, IMO. Maybe make it an open mic in the early evening, followed by sets from a handful of players/bands?
I still know a few folks (promoters/club owners) down there & if there's enough interest in putting something together, it would be pretty easy to hook us up with a night at the right club.
Okay, Lola's in Fort Worth does a Rock and Roll Rummage Sale on the last Sunday of the month and they usually have an open mic thing going on during the event. They are willing to let me do a cigar box show during the rummage sale if anyone is interested. I will meet with them during the sale at the end of April and I will discuss with them about letting us set up a booth to sell our homemade stuffs.
