Photo journal of two Teisco guitar restorations

Ever since our resident Teisco guru "the Anonymous Pick" began turning us on to these vintage sleepers, I have been wanting to get my hands on one. But I didn't want to find one "ready to play". Rather, I enjoy challenges. And these two old guitars fit the bill, for sure.

I found them on Ebay for $80 (not including shipping and import duties). Not bad.

The more interesting one is the extra short scale bass. It's listed scale length is 23.75" and has sent me on an endless search for information about this design. Strings that suit a shorter scale bass are available. But to be sure which is best, I will likely get a number of sets to see which gauges work best.

Anyway, I am waiting for them to arrive in the post. Then I will take measurements for the various "missing" hardware, and order those. Then the project will begin.

Depending on the outcome, I may keep them, or I might offer them to the highest bidder where I got them in the first place.

yup . a few of the teisco tails, etc.. have been repopped lately .. including this tremolo .
