In a few of my articles i have just "used" pictures from the CBG album. I just download interesting pictures and then when i come to identify whose pic it was it becomes an almost impossible task (There are "zillions of pictures up there) When i download them I have no idea if I will ever use them in an article.

So here is a picture that I want to use, so if it is yours please contact me and hopefull say i can use it please.

What a COOL tone plate!! The "VIRZI" or tone plate has been around for a LONG time, and several mandolin builders use it. I have also made one for a regular mandolin I "refurbished", and I was going to make one also for a CB mandolin. I'm sure you could it, as many mandolin builders use it. The thickness for a Virzi plate in a mandolin is about .075 thick, and adds a fuller and lower tone you can hear....They are used in violins also.
PS, go to this link, where you can see a PDF on how to build one. www.siminoff.net/pages/virzi.htm.
OK. All you guys knew about it for ages! It is new to me and I have written and article about it but i getting permission from Siminoff to use some of his stuff.
It is most interesting.
G'day Brian....Maybe "stuff' takes a long time to flow down way South where you are! Greetings from the South in the USA! My granddaughter lives in Melbourne. Siminoff didn't invent the tone plate, he just uses one variation of it. They are pretty cool. He has a whole book on mandolin building..

Did 10 years working for the Victoria Sate Health department so Melbourne was a regular haunt. Very nice city. I ended up on Phillip Island with the fairy penguins!!!!! :) have you seen them?
Re Siminoff, i gathered that. If he uses them for what is usually (not always) a smallish body on Mandolins, they may well help with the tone of CBGs. [I owned a beautiful antique vaulted body mandolin many years ago... gave it away! I could not really play traditional Jazz on it! Oh well, you learn.]

Has anyone use a tone plate in a 3 string CBG with a through-neck? Just wondering what sorta tone it will give the CBG, or if it even sounds good in a CBG.
