Hey Josh and anyone who may care...

I've found that if you go to a flooring supplier (LUMBER LIQUIDATORS) you can get good red oak planks for cheap or even for free if you just need one or two boards...Try saying you need a couple of sample planks in Cherry, Walnut or whatever exotic wood you can think of.

If you mention you are making a CBG or show them a pic or two, there is bound to be a guitar playing employee in the store. I Just BS'd with the guy for a bit and he took me in the warehouse and handed me two 3/8" thick 4" wide 48" long solid Bamboo planks (I'll resaw these and use them for fretboards or inlays) He also offered me a walnut plank but I didn't take it because it had a big ugly knot on the back. He gave me 3 Red Oak planks that were about 4 ft long, 2 1/2" wide, 3/4" thick and very straight He gave me a card and told me whenever I need more just call or stop by.

Woodcrafters is a good exotic wood supplier too (Killer tools also)

I get my Boxes from local cigar clubs for $1 to $3 bucks a piece. They too sometimes just give the boxes to me since they know what I plan to do with them. Even thrift stores have very unique wooden objects that can be incorporated into your CBG's.

Every place I go, I look at everything on every shelf to see what I can use for parts in a CBG. Even when shopping with my wife in the lady stores, I'll buy a belt with cool looking parts for sound hole covers.

When I buy gloves I buy the box of 50 not the box of 100 since the 50 will be thicker for about the same price Can't recall what MIL they are in thickness.

I've got lucky by going to little Mom N Pop shops and talk o the guitar tech, they always have oddball parts they don't want or need and sometimes give them to you or sell them for very cheap.
