Free wiring. I have a set of christmas lights the wife does'nt like anymore. I cut open the insulation and it's copper inside. I wonder if I could use this stuff for wiring?

Macguyver is back by popular demand!

Wade, I liked the MacGuyver icon! Here's about as low budget as you can get to make a tool to hold small parts when soldering or whenever you need a 3rd hand:

A scrap block of wood (don't have to be mahogany), with a clothes pin and an alligator clip glued on.

Very clever, Bear! When the pieces are gone you can wrap up what's left as a gag gift-It's a brush for a bald guy!

A cheap plastic hairbrush from the dollar store provides plenty of black plastic side marker dots!

There are a couple music stores near me with repair departments, the nice folks let me rummage through their junk drawers once in awhile, and put together grab bags for 5-10 bucks, i get tuners, knobs, tons of teeny screws, bridges nuts even pickups sometimes. I bring a cbg with me to show off and the reaction is the litmus test as to whether this shop is "cool" or just a guitar snob joint. Thanks for the starting this great group, Wade, I'll be checking in often.

Before I toss anything, I rip it apart! Not the best pic, but here's what I did with an old printer. I cut a piece off of the inside part of the printer(background) and made an interesting bridge to hold the strings.

If you have a "cabinet mill" (cabinet factory) they are always throwing out "cutoffs" of all kinds of hardwood. From a local, I have gotten oak, maple, walnut, popular and cedar.... all free.

Pallets are a great source of hardwood for necks. Bicycle spokes or the metal stiffener inside windshield wipers can be used as frets. Home Depot et al has Corian samples which make great free nuts.

a lot of the stuff i use to build i find everywhere, in my back yard is a couple of old cars and trucks, under the dashboard there is a lot of useable stuff. use your imagination when searching for parts for building. my neighbor sells scrap metal close by here, got my brass lamp guitar body for 3 or 4 dollars. parts are everywhere, you just have to find them. think recycle for great stuff for building. nice room you got here it should fill up with members fast once people figure out what this place is about.thanks to wade for the club,im in.
