Shielding Alternatives?

In the spirit of my last question, I was wondering....

Has anyone used aluminum flue tape to shield boxes/pickups? I've heard that aluminum foil can be used as a poor-man's shielding.... True? If so, would the flue tape work too?

I actually don't know how prices compare between flue tape and the conventional stuff, but I have this pathological need to use as many things from plumbing/hardware departments in my builds as possible....

I use aluminum duct tape. and so does my buddy that owns a store and wires alot. it sticks and it shields.Is that the same thing as flue tape?

Maybe. It's the stuff plumbers use to seal the joints in furnace flues and stuff. Silvery aluminum, heat resistant....
