A group for those near to London, weather you live near or just feel near spiritually. Even if you've never been to the "Great Metrolops" but feel some sort of emotional connection. Hope it helps people down south to co-ordinate a bit.

To be truly British you need to know the following things...

1. Fully understand the rules of Cricket.

2. Fully understand the offside rule in Football.

3.Know when the Union Jack is being flown upside down.

4.Eat Fish and Chips at least once a month.

5. Know true Real Ale when supped.

I can just about get no.3, easily do 4 and 5....can't do 1 and 2 - i guess there must be some foreign blood in me  somewhere...(-;

Well, perhaps I can belong in an honorary capacity___With a name like Townsend...and I did live on Jacksons Lane above Archway Rd. in Highgate for about 6 months when I was 11. I burned a Guy Fawkes doll and inhaled Toblerones and a cashier at Spar Market tried to rip me off a 5 Pound note. Tsk tsk, trying to steal 5 Pounds from an 11 year old...shame on you whoever you were......

Hi Alan. That's a great idea and a very nice offer. You will be sure of a warm welcome whenever you come. I hope to get to the US before long but no firm plan yet.

Going to Oregon? You've got yourself a deal.

Seriously, I DO get over there about once a year. I'll give you a holler. I'll even bring a bunch of cigar boxes if you like.

Allan. If you do come over, do let us know and of course the same to anyone else heading in this direction.
