Hello!  We are Nicki & Les from Manchester, UK.  Les has been making and playing cigar box guitar for 10 years, playing traditional blues.  Recently we have been trying to use it in our electronic music :-)

Thought it was bout time to say hello and thank you for letting me join. I'm from California and really like surf music like Dick Dale and the Ventures. I also have always liked the blues. Lately discovered Justin Johnsons amazing music. I am currently building a 1 string CBG/didley bow and plan on making a 3 string as well.

Hi my name is Brian and I am from Winnipeg Canada. decided to join the cigar box nation as I am getting a guitar built by rough cut guitars, I can't say enough about the service that Rough Cut Guitars has provided its been wonderful to deal with Tom. looking forward to get my guitar to keep me busy  as it is going to be a very long winter .buy the way I am as green as grass.

Thanks for the add! This is my first guitar build. It started with an old Japanese red lacquered wooden candy box. It matched the original Rangoon Red on my ‘62 Falcon. Then I found an old car speaker cover like the pair I have in the car and I decided that might make a cool guitar!

I know nothing about guitars but got a lot of good info here and am into the final stretch of the build. Here’s where I’m at right now. Just made its first noise last night and I need to work on the nut situation and possibly add a retainer to the middle strings. 

Looking forward to finishing this one up and learning some tunes!

I guess I went about this 'the long way'.  Thanks for letting me in the door!  I am new to this whole concept of CBG's....and I'm completely enthralled!  I have little to no experience playing guitar but I am eager to start learning.  I live in SE Georgia (US).  I've started my 'slide' into this by already building my first, a Diddley Bow style.  Very happy with how it turned out.  It's pretty basic (hard for it NOT to be) but I love how it looks and that it came from nothing to something that makes nice noise!  Looking forward to being a part of the community!

Thanks for the add to the group! I just finished this Steampunk themed CBG, my first ever build. It is amplified with a single 1.75 inch piezo with volume control and will be used to play slide blues, (once I teach myself how to play.) I am a 69+-year-old lifelong acoustic guitar strummer/singer who lives near the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Gatlinburg, TN.
