I acquired this thing for $3 thinking I would re-purpose the tuners, nut, and perhaps neck and bridge into future CBG builds... But I am now thinking I would like instead to make it resophonic. It is a 35" instrument with a 24" scale if I measured it right.

I know nothing about resos and would like to ask you guys to point me in the right direction. Here is a list of questions so far:

I know nothing about resos and would like to ask you guys to point me in the right direction. Here is a list of questions so far:

1. Sound well: I've seen some builds with them and some without. Do I really need one? Can you educate me on the pros and cons?

2. Finish: I would like to either remove the existing finish or at least distress it. My objective is to give the thing a relic blues look. Don't know what the existing finish is. How should I proceed?

3. Action: I think I want to raise the action to facilitate slide. Should I leave it as is, or should I unglue the nut and either shim it or replace it with something higher?

4. Resonator: I would like to find a metal plate or tray at a junk store due to my propensity to favor 'found object' instruments. Or should I bite the bullet and purchase a real resonator?

5. Or should I go back to my initial plan an cannibalize some parts?

Thanks in advance for your input!!

Greetings, has anyone used the center lead rod piezo sold by Gitty to amplify a homemade cone/biscuit assembly? I've cut a groove in the wooden biscuit and wanted to use a piece of deer antler as a saddle (see photo below). I was planning to drill a hole through the center of the biscuit, sandwich the center lead rod piezo down in the groove, between the biscuit and the antler saddle. Do you think this will work ok?
Im working on a license plate CBG but not sure about a few things. I have a cigar box that is almost a perfect fit for a personalized plate.

1 Should I cut out the wood from under where the plate will be at?

2 Do I attach the piazo directly to the license?

3 How is the best way to attach the plate to the CB? I was thinking of riviets with washers between plate and box and behind box for strength.

I'm going to make Dog Bowl reso , the box is 2in deep inside so I've made the neck double thickness inside the box so it fits snug in the box , I've notched the top of the neck inside the box so the lid is free to vibrate , and cut out where the dog bowl is, I don't know what to do with the bottom of the neck inside of the box glue it to the base to make it stronger or just glue it on the ends and notch the rest a 1/8in so it's free to vibrate like the lid, so the question is does the base…

Finally getting around to my first resonator after getting several requested "regular" builds finished and had a question. Does the sound from a reso benefit more from the vibration on the box and cone? Or can you get the sound you want from a magnetic pickup? Or does it matter?

Imagining a piezo might be better, but I have a flat-pup lying around that I'm dying to stick on something. Thanks for posting your pics on here also. I've gotten some good ideas about neck strength…
