Hall of Shame

If you have one of those colossal, bonehead, 'DOH' moments building, tell us about it here. Aw come on, admit it. You've done something completely inept. We wanna here about it.

I was cleaning up my shop ... cutting up bits too big for my wood stove... Evidently ran past the pusher on my angle gilhooley... hit the thumb pretty square...  never touched the nail...

The mess I'm (trying) to work in.

I was making a 3 string for a VERY small lady, so I tried to make a very low profile neck for her tiny hands. All was going well until I tested the rigidity and discovered I had made a pretty good…Continue

UGH! this might belong in the rants page but I am going to rant about my blockheaded self!!

I go to trim a bone saddle and I cannot find the stink'n dremel looked for 45mins to end up finding it's understudy and got the bone trimmed down...But when done I notice that a hairline crack has formed on the underside of the bridge DOUBLE CRAP!! Well, I applied 3 thin coats of tightbond on it and am sanding it down a little. I hope it works...or I'll have to build a second bridge. I get SO SICK of forgetting where I place stuff then lose time by searching for said item. I feel as angry as this guy!

Did that myself.

This has only ever happened to me twice, Sam.  I'm no slouch in the gorilla department but I'm more inclined to believe that this has more to do with heavy stress over time versus my ability to hulk out on a clamp.

Gosh, Josh,

Those Irwin clamps are usually pretty string.  what have you been eating????

;-),

the best,

Don't squeeze your clamps too hard.

Josh... I wood agree  ... and cutting up woodscraps for the woodstove probably shouldn't be done while you are shivering...   My brain gets Foggy when the oil tank gauge gets below 1/4...  I wasted a lot of time this summer working and earning money to piss away filling that damn tank...   on the plus side I have an incredible pile of hardwood pallets outdoors that aren't being converted to BTU's ...  And a bunch of woodworking tools from the early 50's including a wood shaper with a bucket full of tooling ... Including  a really early finger joint tool...  However one of the advertisers here has got boxes cheaper than I can justify making them for...

Guitar making is like writing.  If you're not in the correct frame of mind, just walk away and leave it to another time.

Plan Measure. Measure. Measure. Add in extra to the measure. Plan some more. look at the plan again. Cut.

Else you do what I do frequently - make a mistake.

Drive wheel of a belt sander... Wow...    I didn't think they had that kind of power... Unlike my tablesaw.. Which I think is for sale or trade...
