Ok Greasy, these are real helpful, but may I ask a dumb question? Please excuse my lack of music theory knowledge. I've been playing for years, but by ear and feeling. Anyway, this appears to be the lower 4 register strings of an open D tuning on a 6 string, correct? What's the advantage to that, as opposed to using the higher 4 register strings of the same tuning: DF#AD?? Does it facilitate for easier fingering of chords or something?
Hey Dano, not a dumb question at all!
You're right, these are the lower register stings from open D tuning. The reason I used it, is simply that i prefer the sound! D-F#-A-d would work just as well, and provide a hole other range of sounds.
As for my music theory, i started this partly to teach myself how to find the chord shapes and names, and to have a resource for people that where starting out. this is partly why i'm so slow. teaching myself as i go.
