I purposely prefer to find old thick & wide yard sticks that measure 1-1/2" or just a bit over. Check out my LPG's they work great with 3 or 4 string set ups.
Nice lookin guits , Don't discount the regular not so wide sticks . Even if they are not as wide as the neck . .Placed running down the center of the neck with a space on each side . They offer ease of play and are more forgiving with neck knock habits using a slide . ;-) (Some old blues guys used to file down the bottom edge of the neck for the same reason and result )
Yea, you’re right, the older ones are harder, thicker. Newer ones are a bit warpy, but I see lots of builders using them without a hitch, Del Puckett has used the Lowe’s yardstick on quite a few of his builds?
