Hello from Nova Scotia
I have three grand daughters 8, 3 and 2 yrs old. I would like to build a Uke for each of them.
Can anyone recommend a size or type.
It would help to know what you want to do yourself vs. buy. You can buy premade necks, fretboards with frets, or do it all from scratch. Also there are four sizes of ukulele's, the soprano is the smallest and I'd suggest the best size for kids, and can be played by adults too. Also they are a little easier to make being shorter, and have less stress on the neck. Make sure the strings match the length you make. Check out the CB Gitty kits too.
I see there was not much help for you on your post. I would like to know how you ended up figuring things out and if you made any ukes? I just made a "Paw Patrol" uke out of a premade neck from MGB guitars attached to a Paw Patrol lunchbox I bought form Amazon, for my 5 year old grandson. I didn't take many pictures, but I can do so as soon as I can. I am being shamed into making something for my 3 year old grand daughter for christmas and I was looking for ideas.
