I just built An upright bass using a coffin design for the body. I am planning on a cello next with similar concepts. I am using plywood for the body, hard maple for solid components, bass tuning machines, and pieso under bridge. Just the bass alone I have learned volumes of information, and am looking forward to what I learn from my future projects. I have read every post on this forum and used what I could. I have also learned from a lot of other places. even though my instruments will never be accepted in the role of an orchestra, my bass has a lot of potential with other styles and genres of music. I plan on sharing whatever I can with everyone here so it spreads the wealth of music, and knowledge.

not yet, I'm not a bass player yet. not set up for bow as well as I would like, but sounds good as a plucker. next build of cello has taken problems in bass in consideration. body too wide at bow area. I will reverse the coffin to accommodate this. Also will only put pieso pickup in not magnetic pickups, so I can use any cello strings I choose.
