Guys just brilliant efforts all round! Welcome to the group - what a start!
One of the first things I made was a cardboard stick bass with two weed wacker strings. These leave mine for dead. Using the cbgs for basses is a great idea and these examples show this readily, really embracing the nature of home made music and instruments. Lets keep it up and post some vids to show cigar boxes aren't just for guitars anymore!!

Here's mine:

40" scale, fretless, on a 1x3 red oak neck with a 1/4x3 fingerboard. Uses various WeedWhacker strings from 0.065" to 0.105". Since added a removable foot, made from a table leg, to allow playing upright. More pics at the album

Finished my first bass today, woo!! It is a long scale bass, with a bought neck (a 'flasher' whatever that might be!), a p-bass pup, a jazz bass pup, and dual piezos - still gotta tinker with it a bit, but it's looking groovy so far. I have never owned a bass before, which is why i made it.
