I got a Rod Piezo and Endpin Jack Harness and am about to make a bridge for it. My question is this. Do the strings actually go on the rod or is the rod imbedded inside the bridge? Can anyone help me? Ben?
Looks nice, I would think you would get more box noise by having it sitting on box. Does it?
James
Set the strings on the piezo rod. Have not tried anyother way. I super glued mine on top of wood to hold and build up height of bridge.
Papa,
Most commercially-produced guitars with piezos place the rod piezo directly beneath the saddle, in the slot cut for the saddle into the bridge (except for those like Ovations, where the rod piezo is internally molded into the saddle). You could use the rod piezo as a saddle, but over time, the strings will cut into the piezo material, which ain't really what you want. Get your bridge piece, slot it, place the rod piezo inside that slot, and place your saddle over that; makes sure the slot is deep enough to accept both the rod piezo and your saddle material.. You can use brass bar stock, bone, an old screw, what have you, for the saddle; just make sure the rod piezo sits directly beneath it inthe bridge slot.
Hope this helps,
Oily
I ordered one from CB Gitty, set it up as a bridge, love it. Ordered 20 more. Thanks Ben!
