Welcome!

This is a Group for anyone living in the great state of California, who builds, plays, or is just a fan of Cigar Box Guitars, and similar Handmade instruments. If you don't want to say exactly where you live, just say Northern, Southern, etc. I want to be abreast of any major gatherings...this summer is out, for me, but maybe next....
Stop in an stake yer claim, pardner! .....

Yes, I want to build an electric CBG. Love that dirty sound. I saw some good acts in Memphis a while back

DEf a great album cover! They had perfect timing for the times......roackabilly bigger in Japan and England than here, I think....There is a fella in Sacramento making these and I think he calls them panolians or some such....?? heard one one day and it was SWEET...great tone...

Someone brought "The Shitar" It was way cool and that's what she called it. I asked if Eric Crapton or Steve Crapper played it?? Ha Ha.. I want to build one. I didn't hear it play though. Do you remember The Stray Cats cover at this diner?? Gonna Ball was the album. My cousins lived in the town where they were from. I've seen them 3 times and hung with Lee when he came on his own. He let me play his King Double Bass. Just for about 2 minutes. No amp. :(

LOL...sticker left on! points! (Relax bed pan) ..the diner pic, way way cool.........thanks Jack for posting cool pics! Is the Shitar your creation?.
I think someone bought an old stainless diner and had it transported to Truckee a number of years ago...don't know if they ever assembled it there and restored it, or not. One of my Fav historical structures locally are the old 20s 30s stucco gas stations that dot old state HWY 40 which preceeded interstate 80 as the road to the Sierras...most are decrepit, and one was torn down last year, but a couple have been restored...

WELL, the votes are in and it sounds like the East Coast CBG gathering was a hands down winner! It will be fun to see vids, pics, and posts for those of us that just couldn't quite make it to PA;-) , I'm sure there will be plenty to enjoy in the coming week......I've been almost too busy to play, now THAT"S, TOO busy!!LOL
